Welcome to the North Carolina Census 2010 website

The 2010 Census, required by the U.S. Constitution, will be held this year. The count of all people living in the United States will be used to apportion seats in Congress, presidential electoral votes, and funding from federal and state agencies. It is critical to have an accurate count, as more resources for your community hinge on every person counted.

Census data directly affects how more than $400 billion per year in federal funding is allocated to communities for neighborhood improvements, public health, education, transportation and much more. That's more than $4 trillion over a 10-year period or $10,000 per person over a decade.

We hope you will participate in the 2010 Census! First, by filling out your Census questionnaire and returning it, ensuring you are counted! And second, there are a number of ways you can get involved locally to help people get counted!

Message from the Governor

Thank you for visiting North Carolina’s 2010 Census website. I urge each and every person living in North Carolina to complete their Census questionnaire and mail it back. It’s quick, important and secure. And with more than $4 trillion in federal funds, congressional representation, and more, impacted by the Census, it’s critical that every person in North Carolina be counted.

I hope you take the time to learn about the 2010 Census and how it impacts our communities. Read the blog, check the calendar for important dates and events, and if you want to get involved in helping the Census effort, there’s information for you too.

Sincerely,

Gov. Bev Perdue
